Fire Island is located off the South Shore of Long Island between the Great South Bay and the Atlantic Ocean.
You can drive to Robert Moses, but not further east past Field 5. Take ferries from Bay Shore, Sayville and Patchogue across the bay to access the Fire Island towns. Only cars with special permits are allowed to drive in the off season. That’s what makes Fire Island so special.
