The Village of Saltaire is a family community, upscale and elegant, yet casual, friendly and relaxed. There are no share rentals allowed and the vibe is low key and tranquil.
Incorporated in 1917, the architecture of this magnificent village varies from the original 1940’s “Coffey” houses with their distinctive arched windows and screened in front porches to Thomas Moore’s sleek, modern homes and the classic, comfortable beach cottage.
Every street is beautiful on Saltaire’s tree-lined wooden boardwalks. The hook-shaped curve of the land created the Clam Pond, a wildlife refuge where herons wade for clams and the neighborhood Osprey has her nest.

Saltaire Library on Broadway
The commercial district centers around Broadway near the ferry dock, with a gourmet market, liquor store, doctor’s office, library and firehouse. Many community events are held here.
The members-only Saltaire Yacht Club is a gathering place for tennis, dinner, sailing and community events. Tennis is taken seriously here. The players compete fiercely with their neighbors, then go have dinner together.
The brand new Post Office, spiffy new Library, Town Hall, Village offices and fist-class Firehouse are located on Broadway. The Doctor and security offices are nearby on Bay Prom and Broadway.
There are 2 churches here; St Andrews Episcopal on Broadway and Our Lady Star of the Sea Mission Catholic church on Pilot.
Sports are pursued with passion. Tennis, sailing, windsurfing, and exercise classes are held at the Yacht Club on the bay. Joggers love the wooden boardwalks.
Sailing is almost a religion here, with Saltaire competing in regattas with other towns and across Long Island. Sometimes they even win.
Baseball is a major pastime here, and there’s always a game on in the ball field. There is also a basketball court and brand new playground for the kids.

The Saltaire Day Camp offers a wide range of sports, arts and crafts and swimming instruction in the bay. Kids can join for the season or by the week. They often form lifetime friendships while learning to swim, crafting or tie-dying T-shirts.
Joggers find conditions perfect, and are often seen on their way to or from the Lighthouse.
Of course, there is always the fiercely competitive sandcastle building contest in August.
There is a strong sense of community in Saltaire. The Firehouse pancake breakfasts, annual House and Garden Tour, Arts and Crafts show, Labor Day Talent Show for the kids, Tuesday night movie, St. Andrews Church bazaar and theme nights at the Yacht club all bring residents together.
The Saltaire Citizens Association serves as liason between residents and elected officials, and sponsors many of the town events including the annual Bay Picnic & Artisan Fair, Jogathon, Sandcastle Contest and Fall Festival.
